Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • Frequently Asked Questions

How many weeks of classes should I take to become fluent?

Becoming fluent should probably not be your main goal and will take months if not years, instead you should focus on being able to communicate well in Spanish. The great thing about learning Spanish in a Spanish-speaking country, as opposed to an online course, are all the opportunities you will have to speak! How fast you learn depends on the amount of Spanish you already know, your language skills in general and how much you apply yourself. This is different for each person. In general we can say that someone with not a lot of previous knowledge of the language but with average language skills, will be able to communicate in Spanish fairly well after about 6 weeks.

What is the age of the other students in the class or on the tour?

The schools accepts students of all ages,  so your fellow students can be between 17 and 65 years old. We don´t always know who else will book at the time your are there.  The average age will probably be between 20 and 25 years old. But in the end does it really matter? Everybody is there for the same reason: learning Spanish and enjoying themselves at the same time.

At what time do the classes start and how long do they take?

Group classes are either between 8 am and 12 pm or between 2 pm and 6 pm. Please note however that there is a 20 to 30 minute break in the middle (which you will need!). So actual class hours are 50 to 55 minutes.

How does the school determine my Spanish level?

If you are not an absolute beginner the school will give you a test on the Sunday before the classes start to determine your level of Spanish. It is also possible to do this test before hand online or we can send you the test via email.

What type of accommodation do you offer and is it included?

Accommodation is included in the price of the tour. Each weekly Spanish course includes 7 nights accommodation. Standard this is shared dorm at the Spanish school. You can also choose to stay in a private room or host family for an extra charge. You can also pay extra if you want to add extra nights accommodation before or after your course or tour. In the invoice we send you, you can see the start date and the end date of your accommodation.

The accommodation at the Spanish school has a kitchen you can use and wifi.

Is the transfer to the Spanish school included in the price?

No, the cost of the transfer to Puerto Viejo or Turrialba is never included. But you can book this with us. Just let us know the arrival time of your international flight and we can let you know all the options and the prices.

How do I book a course and how far in advance should I book?

You can book one of our courses as far in advance as you like. To book the course (or tour) you can fill out the reservation form. We do need to know your arrival date and departure date. So it is best if you already have a flight.

Once we receive your reservation we will check availability and send you a confirmation. In the detailed invoice you will find what is included and payment options. You can read more on how to book on this page.

How do I make the payment?

We accept bank transfer and PayPal.

Bank transfer is the preferred payment form since it comes with the lowest cost for both parties.

If you want to use PayPal we add a fee to the total bill. Let us know at the time of booking.

Can I combine the schools in Turrialba and Puerto Viejo?

Yes, that is possible! Just let us know how many weeks in each place and we can combine both.

Or have a look at our Spanish and Adventure tour which includes two weeks in Turrialba and two weeks in Puerto Viejo and excursions on the weekend.
